Our accomplishments

  

IWAQ has taken opportunities to apply for funds from government agencies to service the needs of the Muslim and general community and has been successful in obtaining a number of grants.    

The following are some of the programs that have been managed by the association since 1991:

  • Community Settlement funded by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (1995 - present)  
  • Options Plus funded by Disability Services Queensland (1997 -present)
  • Home and Community Care (HACC) jointly funded by State and Federal department of  health (1998 - present)
  • Community Aged Care Packages (CACP) funded by the Department of Health and Ageing (1998 - present)
  • Multicultural Innovative Dementia Services Pilot (MIDSP) funded by Deparment of Health and Ageing (2001 - 2006)
  • Extended Aged Care at Home Dementia (EACHD) funded by Deparment of Health and Ageing (2006 - present)
  • Salam Respite Centre funded by funded by Deparment of Health and Ageing under the National Respite for Carers Program (2005 - present)

  

Ongoing IWAQ projects such as regular bus trips and Annual Ramadan Hamper Drive is funded solely by the community.

  

2007 was a year where we had a remarkable achievement of winning the Australian Muslim Achievemnet Award.

In 2008, IWAQ celebrated 15 years of achievement.
