Settlement Grants Program

Since 1995, IWAQ has secured funding from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIaC) under various community settlement schemes.  Currently, IWAQ is funded by DIaC under the Settlement Grants Program.

IWAQ provides settlement assistance to refugees and humanitarian entrants who have been living in Australia for over 6 months and less than 5 years, by helping them overcome the barriers preventing them from successfully establishing their life in Australia.  The program also aims to help them become independent and active members of the wider community.

To deliver Orientation Program Towards Integration Of New Settlers (OPTIONS). OPTIONS is primarily aimed at improving access to mainstream services through casework, group information sessions and providing practical assistance to multicultural women in order to promote self reliance and to support their inclusion in society.  In addition, a component of the SGP is to enhance capacity building for emerging communities.
